In an age when many publications are struggling to compete with the Internet, the German edition of Wikipedia.com is to be published as a print volume. The edition will contain 50,000 condensed articles which will be selected on the basis of their relevance to readers. Mirroring current pop culture, the edition will have articles on Television show, comic characters and celebrities in addition to more academic topics such as historical events. The German Wikipedia is the second largest edition online, with 2.3 million articles.
