Bulbs/Lamps 100 watts

Common house bulbs use heating elements such as a tungsten wire, which lights up. This also generates heat, thus consuming lot of power – 40-100 watts. Most fancy light fittings use these bulbs for incandescent (yellow) lighting. If one nuclear family uses around five to ten bulbs, image in the power that is collectively consumed. In contrast to incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes and CFL lamps use much lesser power and produce lesser heat. The best substitute for bulbs is CFLs, which consume less than a quarter of the power (say 9 watts).
